'Daredevil' Season 2 Cast News: Actor Jon Bernthal Seen Hard at Work Preparing to Play The Punisher

Recent cast news update on the next season of Netflix's hit superhero series "Daredevil" suggests that actor Jon Bernthal is fully committed to giving the best Frank Castle/The Punisher performance.

"The Walking Dead" star does so by engrossing himself on the source materials of the Marvel anti-hero. A report from ComicBook.com said that the actor has been seen going over and over again at a Ventura, California-based comic book store to grab copies of the Punisher comics.

"Jon Bernthal liked the stuff I gave him to read, hooked up again today," the publication cited Hypnocomics owner George Chase's Instagram post. "He's doing his work! It feels good to know I'm helping my favorite Superhero show in some small way."

As seen in the pictures, the 38-year-old actor is holding volume 16 of the "PunisherMax(2010)" which was written by Jason Aaron and drawn by Steve Dillon.

The story, according to the media outlet, finds Castle locked in a solitary confinement. Meanwhile, a prison riot is taking place. During these moments, Castle is reflecting on "the final moments" he shared with his family before they were killed by the mobsters.

Chase, on the other hand, is holding a copy of the re-published original "Punisher" miniseries titled "Circle of Blood" which was released back in 1986. The five-part series was written by Steve Grant and Mary Jo Duffy. The illustrations were provided by Mike Zeck and Mike Vosburg.

The story tells about the Punisher claiming to have killed The Kingpin which sets off a turf war between other criminal gangs in New York's Hell Kitchen.

"Daredevil" Season 2 returns to Netflix in 2016.
