'Daredevil' Season 2 Casting News, Rumors: Possible Elektra Auditions Taking Place?

From what these recent rumors suggest, it appears that the next season of the fan-favorite Netflix series "Daredevil" will introduce Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) love interest, Elektra.

The information was perpetrated by a Twitter user named Marvel_Spider who shared video links of what seems to be the auditions of a certain Shiva Kalaiselvan and "Wish You Were Here" actress Louisa Mignone.

The videos, unfortunately, were taken down later but the people from Comic Book Resources were able to share a transcript of the auditions.

The actresses who were auditioning read two scenes, first with a criminal victim, and the other with the titular character during their college years.

CBR pointed out that Foggy (Elden Henson) had made mention of Matt's "Greek college flame" which the site speculated could really be Elektra Natchios.

For the uninitiated, the female ninja assassin was created by Frank Miller back in Daredevil #168 which was published in 1981. Elektra was characterized with her twin sai weapons. The comic book canon tells of her attraction with Matt Murdock but was torn between her love for the Hell's Kitchen hero and her thirst for violence.

The character was also featured in the 2003 Ben Affleck-led film of the same name. She was played by Jennifer Garner and was seen as a daughter of the billionaire Nikolas Natchios. Garner was joined by Colin Farrell as Bullseye and Michael Clarke Duncan as Wilson Fisk a.k.a The Kingpin.

The Netflix show was renewed for a second season on April 21, 2015 following its positive reception both from the viewers and critics. Season 2 is due to premiere on the web streaming service sometime in 2016.
