'Daredevil' Season 2 News, Cast, Spoilers: Elektra and Punisher Debut in Season 2

Marvel has definitely got a hold of audience's attention in cinemas, but they are certainly behind DC when it comes to the small screen. DC's "Arrow" is going into its fourth season and "The Flash" into its second, while Marvel's only ongoing television show "Daredevil" on Netflix is just approaching its second season. Although the series fan base that DC has built is definitely much stronger than that of Marvel at this point, it hasn't hindered "Daredevil" from garnering admiration with its well-crafted story, a far better reception than its 2003 film starring Ben Affleck.

As of now, the Marvel series under Netflix is currently filming its second season, which is expected to air in 2016. Having a panel in New York Comic-Con 2015, a couple of teasers have been revealed and got fans giddy about what's to come. According to Screen Rant, one of the many things to look forward to would be the continuous burden Matt Murdock carries due to the double life he has been living. He is faced with dealing with the consequences of his crusades that will further reflect on his actions.

The second exciting news is the debut of two new familiar and significant characters. Elektra, which will be portrayed by Elodie Young, is Murdock's old college flame and has a complicated love-hate relationship with Murdock's secret persona. Young has starred in action movies like "District 13" and "G.I. Joe 2." Furthermore, Punisher will be entering the scene. Jon Berthal takes on this role and is reported to have the commanding force required of the character and is expected to go head-to head with Daredevil.

For now, fans can indulge in "Jessica Jones," the second series in Marvel's 4 series lineup, which will premiere in Nov. 20, and later on by "Luke Cage" before season 2 of "Daredevil" finally airs sometime 2016. It will then be followed by "Iron Fist" and the "The Defenders," which would bring all four heroes together.
