Dave Matthews Band Tour Dates Announced, New Album 'Coming Soon'

The Dave Matthews Band has announced new tour dates and an upcoming album after their hiatus in 2011.

DMB announced on Tuesday, Feb. 14 that their usual summer tour will start May 18 in Woodland, Texas. So far, they have released 39 dates in various states, from Texas to Calif., Ohio to N.Y.

The online presale for tickets starts Thursday, and is exclusively for band fans who have joined the DMB Warehouse Fan Association. The fan club, known as simply "The Warehouse," gives DMBers early concert tickets, merchandise, and CDs first to promote fan interaction.

Fans of the Grammy Award-winning rock band are excited, especially because DMB skipped their annual summer tour in 2011. After 20 years, that was their first summer without a song, so their comeback show is expected to do well in terms of ticket sales.

"I'm sure no one knew this, but I'm pretty excited for the Dave Matthews Band to announce tour dates #gorgebound #spacbound @SLessard #HURRY!" tweeted one excited fan before the announcement.

"Tomorrow the Summer 2012 tour dates will be announced for the Dave Matthews Band #thankgod," tweeted another Monday.

Tickets will likely be anywhere from $40 to $75, plus tax.

DMB also announced their new album, which they are working on with veteran producer Steve Lillywhite. Lillywhite worked with the band on some of their earlier material in the late 1990s, which then garnered critical acclaim for its new sound.

Currently, no date has been set for the album's release; DMB just says it's "coming soon," according to the Live Nation statement.

The album, which is currently an unnamed work in progress, will follow their 2009 release, "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King," which was well received. The "GrooGrux King" is said to be LeRoi Moore, DMB's original saxophonist that died Aug. 19, 2008, due to complications from a prior ATV accident.

From 2000 to 2009, DMB sold 11.2 million tickets on their tours- the most by any artist or band during that span of time, according to Billboard. Their legacy is set to continue this summer.
