David Hasselhoff is celebrating his 60th birthday on Tuesday July 17, 2012. The Hoff is famous for being an actor, singer, producer and businessman.

The Hoff celebrated his 60th in usual buoyant mood tweeting to his fans: "I wanna have sixty on the beach! Keep singing!! WOW! Thanks for all the Birthday Wishes! May the Hoff be with you!! Partytime! 60 Rocks!!"

Despite maturing into his 60's Hasselhoff has no thoughts of disappearing quietly into the night, and he will be hitting theater screens again soon in new movie Piranha 3DD.

For years the actor has been speaking about starring in an updated movie version of his old Baywatch show, and this may be the closest he will get. It has been reported that the Hoff will in fact not have to do much acting at all in the new film; he will be playing himself. According to the Daily Express, Hasselhoff said, "I've just met the guy writing the film. I'm going to play myself,'' he said. "We're trying to make it a very cool, updated version.''

The Hoff is best known for his lead roles as Michael Knight in the popular 1980s series Knight Rider and as L.A. County Lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in the series Baywatch. Hasselhoff also produced Baywatch for a number of seasons in the 1990s up until 2001, when the series ended with Baywatch Hawaii.

Fans often find it hilarious watching the Hoff belt out songs from the days of his music career, which was primarily popular in German-speaking Europe. He will be forever associated with leather pants.

More recently Hasselhoff has featured as a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent from 2006 to 2009. In 2011, he joined the Britain's Got Talent judging panel, alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and British comedian Michael McIntyre.
