'Days of Our Lives' News: Allison Sweeney to Leave Show for 'General Hospital,' Oct. 22- 24 Spoilers

It's not uncommon to have crossovers between soap operas, as with the case of "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." Nor is it unusual to have one cast member from one soap jump ship in favor of another daytime drama, which is true for Michelle Stafford, who has played the role of Phyllis Summers in "Y&R" for 19 years before making the move to "General Hospital."

Now, it seems like "General Hospital" is about to gain another soap opera veteran as Allison Sweeney, who played Sami Brady in "DOOL" since 1993, is about to exit the show to work behind the scenes. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, she accepted "General Hospital" executive producer Frank Valentini's offer to work as a director for the show, and her final scenes on "DOOL" will be airing in November 2014.

In a Twitter post, Sweeney told her fans that she was "super psyched" about her new job and is currently "working on the script". For now, there has been no statement from the producers of 'Days of Our Lives' on what the storyline will be regarding her exit, or whether her role will be recast.
