DayZ Release Date 2016: Bohemia Interactive Publishes Road Map

Bohemia Interactive has announced that its game, "DayZ," will be getting a full release version launch in the first half of 2016. The open-world zombie survival game has been in development for a year now with an alpha version released through an Early Access on Steam December last year.

While the Early Access version costs $35, the full, complete game will be priced at $50. Even though the game has not been completed yet, the title has already sold more than 2 million copies, which has surprised Brian Hicks, the game's producer.

"2014 has been an immensely successful year for DayZ. We could have never hoped for so many people to join us for the adventure of Early Access development," he said in a statement.

Also, since the game is still currently in development, the developers have released a development roadmap in which a list of upcoming content is included up until its release in 2016. The content includes new vehicles, events, animal companions, diseases, and a stealth system among others.

Predominantly made for the PC, a roadmap for the console version has also been published but won't be coming anytime soon. A prototype for the console edition of the game is reported to be ready by the third quarter of 2015, to be shortly followed by an official release.

Some of the later additions included in the roadmap are advanced vehicles, player statistics and stamina, a new user interface, base building, and steam community integration.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the game's creator Dean "Rocket" Hall had announced his plans to leave the company by the end of the year.
