'DC Universe Online' News: Update Will Allow Players to Team Up Heroes With Villains

DC's massively multiplayer online role-playing game "DC Universe Online" is getting a significant update soon, which is set to change the way the game is being played. A coming update will soon allow players to play with villains in the DC Universe and team them up with superheroes in order to achieve missions or tasks together.

This news was shared by the game's director, Jens Andersen, through his Twitter account. His tweet last July 10 said: "DC just approved cross faction PvE. Yup! Is Suicide Squad & Task Force X coming to an instance near you? Exciting news? RT yes FAV heck yes!"

Andersen also mentioned that the update does not mean that heroes will be able to enter the Villains' main hub, but instead will be able to team up with them through the On Duty tab in the game.

Andersen however did not mention when said update will be released, so until then, fans of the game would have to wait for an official announcement.

"DC Universe Online" was released for Microsoft Windows and the PlayStation 3 in 2011, and the PlayStation 4 in 2013. Developed by Daybreak Game Company and co-published by Sony Computer Entertainment and WB Games, by August 2014, it is considered to be the number one revenue generating free-to-play title on the PS3 and the PS4. In early 2015, Daybreak announced that it will be coming to the Xbox One in the future.

The game is free to download, but the game has three types of membership, namely All Access, Free-to-Play, and Premium. All Access is a paid subscription membership to the game, and allows players to create as many as 16 characters and have access to unlimited in-game cash, DLCs as well as other benefits. Free-to-Play is limited to two characters only, and $1,500 in-game cash. Premium membership allows up to six character slots, $2,000 in-game cash, among others.
