'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' on CW Will Be An Anthology Series

Many DC fans are anticipating the start of the new superhero series "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" on The CW network, which starts airing within the first half of 2016. The show is proof positive of DC's success in establishing a universe in the small screen, first with "Arrow" and then "The Flash."

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" is an exciting new series that crosses over the same universe where "Arrow" and "The Flash" move around. It brings together a group of superheroes and villains who are thrown in to work together for the greater good. It will definitely show this unlikely group battling it out against forces of evil and saving the day.

According to a report in Screen Rant, however, the new series is designed to be an anthology series, meaning that each season is "meant to be standalone." This much was revealed by showrunner Phil Klemmer during his interview with Screen Rant.

"This is meant to be a season that is tightly serialized that, when it's over, you can't go home again. It's not going to begin Season 2 with us all hopping back on the same ship and like 'Let's get Vandal! Let's get him for real this time!' This is not traditional episodic television," the executive producer said.

He likened the treatment somewhat to other anthology series like "American Horror Story" and "True Detective," where each season features a new story with new characters while still sticking to the "overall premise of the series," of an unlikely group coming together to combat a bigger enemy or threat.

The first season of the series will initially feature characters like Firestorm, White Canary, The Atom, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Rip Hunter and Hawkgirl. The villain Vandal Savage is the common enemy they are working against and their missions involve some time-traveling. Each member of the team will also be dealing with their own issues as they relate with each other.
