Along the way, preparations for "Deadpool 2" has been plagued with production woes and casting rumors. Last year, one particular event that affected the progress of the sequel was the unexpected departure of the original film's director, Tim Miller.

Miller reportedly had creative differences with Reynolds regarding the direction of the sequel's storyline. Sources claimed that Reynolds and Miller continued to have conflicts over certain creative issues. Although Reynolds was a producer of the first "Deadpool" movie, his influence has exponentially increased in the sequel.

During a panel in the 100th episode of CG Garage, Miller said, "I wanted to make the same kind of movie that we made before because I think that's the right movie to make for the character."

To replace Miller, "John Wick" director David Leitch has been signed to helm "Deadpool 2," which will be written by creative duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Meanwhile, Reynolds and the upcoming film's other producers are reportedly in the process of casting the new female lead of "Deadpool 2" – the popular Marvel Comics mutant Domino. According to reports, several actresses have tested for the role, including Lizzy Caplan, Sienna Miller, Ruby Rose and Sofia Boutella.

"Deadpool 2" has no official title or release date yet.
