Dell XPS 12 Specs Rumors: 2-in-1 Tablet to Feature 12.5-inch 4K Touch Display, Intel Core M Skylake

Dell is working on a new device and it's reported that it will go up against Microsoft's Surface lineup and Apple's iPad Pro. The latest in the tech company's sleeve is the 2-in-1 XPS 12 tablet. According to International Business Times, the device has been affixed with high-end specs that will really make it tough competition for its rivals.

It's not out yet but a set of leaked photos and rumored specifications of the device have emerged and now tech junkies have an idea of what to expect from it. Reports say that the Dell XPS 12 will come with a 12.5-inch Sharp IGZO display panel that is capable of handling an impressive 4K resolution and a 1080p screen.

With a pixel density of 352 pixels per inch for crystal clarity, it will come with a 1920 x 1080 pixel display and will be powered with an Intel Core M Skylake processor with Core M3 or M7 options. Interested consumers can choose between 4GB and 8GB RAM. For the storage, the makers of the device placed a M.2 SATA solid state drive.

Tech Times also reported that it will tout an "innovative magnetic connection" which will make the XPS 12 turn from a tablet into a laptop-like device because of its detachable keyboard dock. There are two keyboard dock options available for users: one keyboard is extremely thin and light and the other one keyboard is bulky because it lodges an extra USB Type-C port, two USB 3.0, and HDMI.

The leaks also revealed that the XPS 12 will come with a stylus, which Digital Trends reported to be an active digitizer pen. It will have an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Connectivity features include dual-band Wi-Fi, v4.1 Bluetooth, SD card reader and two Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C slots. There will also be a tablet variant that will come with LTE support.

According to Trusted Reviews, the Dell World 2015 conference is scheduled later this October. Reports speculate that it may also be the time that the device will be unveiled.
