Destiny 2 Development Rumors; Activision Releases Financial Results
Tuesday, Nov. 4, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed during the post-earnings financial call that the next "full game" in the Destiny game franchise series has already started.
"Work has also begun on future expansion packs as well as on our next full game release," the executive said. "We're very pleased with the launch and continuing engagement."
The said sequel isn't that surprising at all, given that Activision has already declared that they had a "10-year vision" for the game franchise.
Bungie, the creators behind the game, have a "Lord of the Rings-sized narrative" scale plan for Destiny, GameSpot reported.
Earlier that day, the publishing house released its financial results for the quarter that ended on Sept. 30. Dual Shockers reported that the new game already has 9.5 million registered users and active players play an average of three hours a day.
In September, Activision announced that Destiny had sold in the market to "more than $325 million worth of products in its first five days of availability."
As of today, the publisher had non-GAAP revenue to total more than $500 million in the third quarter.
The site also mentioned that the earnings call also covered their report for their other hit title, World of Warcraft, which as stated, now counts 7.4 million subscribers.
Activision as well as Bungie didn't share any additional details about the Destiny sequel including its release date, contents, features, and other particulars.
