The second BattleCry, what some have called an "act of provocation" and others a "Lollapalooza for the Lord," is set to hit Detroit starting today with a louder presence of 35,000 teens.

Coming just two weeks after the stadium-event’s launch in San Francisco drew both criticism and support from media and city officials, the “reverse rebellion” is making its second round in front of the Detroit City Hall before heading to the stadium site. This weekend, Apr. 7-8, tens of thousands of teens from Michigan and across other states will join the battle cry that 25,000 youths have already hollered on the West coast - the first BattleCry event initiated by the national youth organization TeenMania.

In a fight to save this generation from the alcohol abuse, sex and drugs that prevail today, teens plan to hold up the red flag in a counterculture movement of its own kind.

San Francisco's elected officials, however, have condemned the youth movement as "fascist" and "hateful," saying it was "totally at odds with the tone of the ballpark event," noted an editorial in the San Francisco Chronicle on Mar. 27.

"The young people who came to San Francisco to affirm their faith ... deserved to be welcomed by a city that was as tolerant and progressive as its sanctimonious supervisors like to profess," it stated.

Midway into the coast-to-coast movement, the Detroit event will stir tens of thousands of youths at Ford Field with music from top Christian artists Cross Movement, Delirious?, Jeremy Camp, TobyMac and others.

With the third event coming in May, over 100,000 teens and leaders are making their first shouts this year across the states in a culture war that is rallying the Christian teen voice and is just beginning.
