Detroit Red Wings vs Tampa Bay Lightning Live Stream, Start Time: Watch Online NHL Playoffs

Florida will be buzzing as the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Detroit Red Wings at Amalie Arena in Game 1 of their first round battle in the NHL playoffs. The match is on April 16, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Tampa Bay finished the season second in the Atlantic Division, only two points behind the Montreal Canadiens and eight points ahead of the Red Wings. They ended the season on a three-game win streak and have secured at least a point in their last four matches.

Meanwhile, Detroit barely beat the Ottawa Senators for the third spot in the division after securing 100 points against Ottawa's 99. Detroit were very inconsistent in the final stretch of the season, alternating wins and losses in their last six games of the season. However, they did get an important 2-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in their last game to avoid being in the Wild Card place to potentially face either of the top teams in the East.

Despite the difference in form, this should be one of the more interesting series in the playoffs.

Tampa Bay won the season series 3-1, winning the first three before Detroit got one back.

In the first meeting, the game was decided via penalty shootout in a 4-3 win for the Lightning. Detroit led early in the first period, but three straight goals for Tampa Bay through the first and second period gave them the lead. However, the Red Wings fought back and eventually secured a point, but fell via penalties.

In the second and third meetings, the Lightning dominated Detroit, allowing them to score only two goals while they netted a total of eight.

In the second game, Cedric Paquette secured a hat trick as the 21-year-old was clearly the game's top performer.

Detroit finally got their revenge in the final meeting of the season, dominating Tampa Bay 4-0 at home behind goals from Joakim Andersson, Justin Abdelkader, Gustav Nyquist and Like Glendening.

Goalie Petr Mrazek stopped all 23 attempts from Tampa Bay as he kept a clean sheet.
