'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' Release Date Pushed Back To August 2016

Fans of the action RPG "Deus Ex" will need to wait for another six months before they can get their hands on the next installment of the series, "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided." Publisher Square Enix has made it known that the game had been delayed to August 2016, instead of the original February 2016 release date. According to IGN, the announcement was made on the game's website, which cited that the developer, Eidos Montreal, did not want to "compromise on quality" and thus needed to move the game's release date.

The developer said in its statement by studio head David Anfossi that in order for "Mankind Divided" to be the worthy successor of "Human Revolution," they need "more time in post-production for tuning, iterations, and refinement to meet (their) high standards." The statement also noted how fans of the game series had high expectations for the next game and that the developer intends to exceed these expectations. After apologizing for the delay, they also said that developing "Mankind Divided" was both a "privilege" and a "huge responsibility."

"Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" is being developed for the PC and current-generation consoles, the PS4 and the Xbox One. It was announced over two years ago in October 2013 and was officially unveiled in April 2015. The game is said to be using a new game engine called the Dawn Engine.

According to an Engadget report, another interesting thing to note about the game is its lineup of female combatants, which is said to be the first time to happen in the series. One of game's producers Olivier Proulx said that while in the previous games, women's roles were limited to a few in the game world, this time around, the women were front and center as with the men. He added, "Basically, now when you explore the environments it's not only, like, males everywhere. For us, it was really important to have females in our world, in the Deus Ex world."

"Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" will be released on August 23, 2016.
