With the final season of Showtime's hit "Dexter" well underway, many fans are eager to know how the show will end and what will become of Dexter himself. Read below for spoilers provided by executive producer Sara Colleton.
In an interview with TVLine, Colleton discussed what the series finale has in store.
"This has been the ending that we [the executive producers] have talked about for years now. So to us, it feels right for our show and how we feel about it," Colleton told TVLine.
Though the ending feels right for the producers, how will it feel for fans?
"There will be people who hate it, but we can't try to anticipate that or put it through the lens of any other show's finale -- because that was another show. This is our show. This is Dexter," Colleton explained.
While the popular show is coming to an end, many have speculated the possibility of a spin-off- which could ease the pain of those fans unhappy with the finale.
David Nevins, head of the Showtime network, said that nobody is ruling out the possibility of a "Dexter" spin-off.
"We won't rule it out; all options are on the table as to where it could go after this. There's nothing actively happening, but you never know what the future holds. We need to get through this season and see how the dust settles and then see where we go from there. I won't rule it out, but I'm not actively planning anything," Nevins told The Hollywood Reporter.
