'Dexter' Season 8 Through Pilot to Be Available on Netflix

Fans of Showtime's now completed series "Dexter" will be happy to hear that the network has made a deal with Netflix. All eight season of the series, which follows serial killer Dexter as a protagonist, will be available for streaming on Netflix.

In a statement, Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix, spoke about his excitement over being able to stream the hit Showtime drama.

"We're thrilled to have Dexter, one of Showtime's highest-rated shows, on Netflix, and so quickly after it completed its record-breaking run. This is one of the great serialized dramas of the past decade and we know our members will enjoy discovering or reliving the twisted world of Dexter Morgan anywhere and anytime they want," Netflix's Chief Content Officer said.

However, fans should note that binge watching will be limited, as not all eight seasons will be released at once.

According to Variey, the first half of the series will be streaming on Netflix starting Oct. 31 of this year. Luckily fans will not have to wait long for the rest of the series. Seasons 5 through 8 will be made available for Netflix streaming on Jan. 1.

And watching reruns via Netflix streaming might not be the only way die-hard "Dexter" fans can get their fix. There are some rumors that a "Dexter" spinoff is in the works.

David Nevins, head of the Showtime network, said previously that nobody is ruling out the possibility of a "Dexter" spin-off when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.

"We won't rule it out; all options are on the table as to where it could go after this. There's nothing actively happening, but you never know what the future holds. We need to get through this season and see how the dust settles and then see where we go from there. I won't rule it out, but I'm not actively planning anything," Nevins said.
