'Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth' Sequel News: Bandai Namco Reveals Details

Bandai Namco has revealed the upcoming sequel to "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth." The new title is called "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory," and will release on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) in Japan this year, followed by a worldwide release at a later date.

The company behind "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" has announced last Tuesday, March 21, the follow up to its "Digimon" title through Shueisha's V Jump gaming magazine, as revealed by Anime News Network. The game is set to launch on the PS4 and PS Vita later this year.

Bandai Namco has not yet announced a specific release date for the sequel to the highly successful 2016 "Digimon" game, according to the International Business Times. However, the company did give assurance that the new game will also be seeing a release in North America and Europe by early next year, 2018. The game will be released several months earlier in Japan, where it is set to debut later this year.

There are no details yet about an English version release for "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory," but game producer Kazumasa Habu has shared with Push Square about the possibility of a worldwide release. When asked about the reason why the game is also being released for the PlayStation 4, Habu replied: "When Cyber Sleuth was developed, there was no plan to launch outside of Japan (in the US or Europe). But thanks to the overseas fans' enthusiasm and dedication to campaigning for a release, we can now release a Digimon game after so long. We are very thrilled," Habu explained.

Habu also noted that an international release for the next game is possible if the interest in the new "Digimon" title holds up. "If this title becomes a success, we can hopefully consider a worldwide, simultaneous launch for the next title," Habu said.
