'Dishonored: Death of an Outsider' Review: On the Expansion That Represents The Series Better Than The Previous Installments Did

Developed by Arkane Studios, "Dishonored: Death of the Outsider" was facing a lot of expectations during its development period. Considering that it was to be published by Bethesda Softworks, who is known for many popular game titles, "Dishonored: Death of the Outsider" had fans building up the hype. Now that is available, many would like to know if Arkane Studios delivered on their promises. Fortunately, critics have a few things to say about the game.

Cog Connected lauded "Dishonored: Death of the Outsider" for the experience it had to offer. The visuals were unlike anything that can be seen in today's generation of game titles, and the story left them craving for more as it successfully dragged them in the universe where the game was taking place. Furthermore, the arsenal that has been made available in "Dishonored: Death of an Outsider" makes the experience all the more in-depth.

The only thing that could be considered as a con is the fact that the characters, including the protagonist, were not given a chance to grow because of the short gameplay. Although it is considered as a standalone expansion of the series, it would have been great to see how the developers could introduce change to their characters.

Meanwhile, Ars Technica thought that "Dishonored: Death of an Outsider" is the epitome of what the series should have been from the beginning. The restrictions present in the previous installment were nowhere to be found in this expansion, and this allowed gamers to experiment and explore with their surroundings and their own capabilities. Although the sandbox system felt a little lackluster near the end, "Dishonored: Death of an Outsider" still managed to get the plot and the gameplay across.

"Dishonored: Death of an Outsider" is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. It was released last Sept. 15.
