DMX Prays for Fans' Safety at Detroit Concert

In a public demonstration of faith, rapper DMX prayed outside of his Detroit concert for the safety of his fans before getting on stage, since the city is known to be the second most violent in the country, according to a 2013 Forbes list.

For years, the rapper has prayed for each of his shows before performing but this prayer was the first of its kind as he pleaded that his fans remain out of harm's way.

"We pray that there are no fightings, no stabbings, no shootings, no arrests, no drunk drivings, no altercations, incidents whatsoever," said DMX, according to TMZ.com. "We pray the best part of the show be the prayer and if we even touch one person for Your namesake, for Your glory, we've done a wonderful thing ... We ask that You keep us safe and that every person that came here makes it home safely."

Additionally, DMX thanked God for his blessings.

"We ask that your grace and blessings are a part of the show this evening, we ask that any obstacle that's placed in our path, remove them in the name of Jesus … Lord, we thank You for the blessings that most people take for granted, the food that we have to eat, the cars that we have to drive, the air we have to breathe, the clothes we have to wear, the lives we touch, the lives that touched our own," he said.

Although no crimes took place that night, according to TMZ, Detroit was placed at the top of Forbes list as one of the most dangerous cities for the fifth consecutive year in October due to a wave of murder, rape, robbery and assault crimes reported among 2,122 per 100,000 residents.

It's not the first time DMX makes news while in Detroit. A few months ago, the rapper was in town for another show during which time he was caught on video running completely nude throughout a hotel. In the 30-second clip, DMX is seen walking the halls in a pair of boxers then taking them off before proceeding to streak his way past a hotel employee. He later explained that his act was part of a dare among friends.

While DMX has been vocal about his faith including moments in which he has announced that he has spiritual authority to sharing scriptures with a fan, others are critical about the rapper's past as he has had numerous run-ins with the law. The most recent incidents include his arrest for marijuana possession in South Carolina last summer and his arrest for failing to have a valid driver's license while driving under the influence.
