'Doctor Who' News, Update: 2 Back-to-Back Series 8 Episodes to Hit the Big Screen

In line with the anticipation for the coming of BBC's "Doctor Who" Season 9, new updates about the hit TV drama series indicates that the two episodes from the show will be coming over to the big screen along with a handful of surprises.

This September, a two-night special screening event will feature the Season 8's two-part finale episodes "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven" in RealD 3D.

The announcement, which was made by BBC Worldwide North America and Fathom Events on Tuesday, said that aside from the titles stated above, fans will also get to see a never-before-seen Season 9 prequel scene for "The Doctor's Meditation" as well as an exclusive interview with series stars Peter Capaldi, who plays the 12th Doctor and Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald), The interview will be hosted by Wil Wheaton.

ComingSoon.net said that tickets for the special presentation can be purchased online starting Friday, July 31, via the Fathom Events website or through any of the participating cinemas.

"We love bringing Doctor Who events to theaters and seeing the fans come out in full force," Fathom Events VP of Programming, Kymberli Frueh, stated. "This time fans get the added excitement of seeing all the action in 3D with exclusive bonus content not available anywhere else."

"After the enormous success of the 50th Anniversary and season eight premiere – both number one alternative one-night cinema events, two years in a row – we decided to bring the Doctor back to the big screen in 3D so Whovians across the country can have a full immersive experience of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor," BBC Worldwide North America official Soumya Sriraman said.

"The season eight finale, along with an exclusive interview with Peter and Jenna is the perfect way to get fans ready for the upcoming premiere of new season on BBC America," she added.
