'Doctor Who' Season 9 Spoilers: Executive Producer Defends Controversial Death of a Character
The most recent episode of the hit series "Doctor Who" brought fans to tears after a death of a character.
The Time Lord's sidekick, Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman, saw her death in the previous episode of "Doctor Who." The fans, along with The Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, witnessed her death, which was caused by a deadly raven that is referred to as "Quantum Spirit."
Fans were surprised at the tragic death of Oswald, stating that it made them cry. Some were even shocked that it was shown on TV at a time that young viewers could be watching. However, the executive producer of the series, Steven Moffat, did his best to defend their decision for Oswald's death scene.

While he admitted that it was scary, he said, "You have to be responsible about it — that doesn't mean it isn't shocking or troubling. But it is not like children learn about the realities of people dying from Doctor Who. It did not go in the direction I thought it was going to" as reported by Mirror UK.
Nevertheless, fans are sad to see Coleman depart from the series. She has been present in the three previous season of "Doctor Who." Coleman was also able to share some details about her character's death during an interview.
She said, "It was a surprise when I read the script. It did not go in the direction I thought it was going to. But it's really cool and different, and good, I think. And sad. I couldn't stop crying after I filmed my final scenes — it was ridiculous to get emotional. I'd planned all these things I wanted to say but only got two words out."
