'Doctor Who' Season 9 to have a reckless and wild Doctor with an enthusiastic companion in epic adventures.

Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman return as the Doctor and his Companion, Clara Oswald, for epic adventures on a grand scale in the ninth season of "Doctor Who" The Good Doctor becomes reckless and wild and his Companion, Clara, matches his every step as they rush headlong into the mad, glorious world of thrills that TARDIS has in store for them.

Showrunner Steven Moffat, never the one to even let the tiniest detail out of the bag, says about this season of "Doctor Who", "I think it's a big, mad and exciting series. You'll be grinning a lot more, there's more comedy mixed in with some of the darkest stuff we've done – the Doctor's first big entrance kind of sets the tone."

Capaldi agrees with Moffat regarding his change in attitude. About the season he says, "I think [the audience will] find a lot of thrills, lot of mystery, a reckless Doctor in pursuit of adventure. It's… hopefully full of spectacle and adventure – it's not a sitting back, domesticated, reflective series, it's the Doctor and Clara roaring through time and space in search of thrills. So I think it's great, it should be a fun watch for audiences at home."

So yes, it is really confirmed now that this season is going to be dark yet funny, serious yet set against the backdrop of rip-roaring adventure and above all most entertaining.

One of the mainstays of the series has been the Doctor-companion relationship. The Doctor, a non-human has to interact with the emotional humans and many times, he may get entangled into their feelings apart from saving the world from aliens and other dangers. With a younger Doctor, fans look forward to a romantic alliance between the Doctor and his Companion.

With the present Doctor, Peter Capaldi, who is 57, and Jenna Coleman, 29, who plays Clara Oswald, the possibility of a romantic tryst between them seems remote.

Though Capaldi agrees that there should be some romance in "Doctor Who," he might have his wish fulfilled when in this season, the Doctor's wife, 'River Song,' played by Alex Kingston, is scheduled to make an appearance in the 'Doctor Who" 2015 Christmas Special.

Season 9 of "Doctor Who" premieres on BBC1 and BBC America on 19th September.
