'Doctor Who' Series 9 Spoilers: Maisie Williams Returns in 'The Woman Who Lived'
BBC cult sci-fi television series "Doctor Who" is already in the middle of its season and according to some reviewers, the current season is turning out to be as interesting and as good as the previous one. According to a report in Den of Geek, Maisie Williams returns in the coming episode, "The Woman Who Lived," after appearing in the episode "The Girl Who Died" last week. Williams is better known for her role in the HBO fantasy series, "Game of Thrones."
When "Doctor Who" returns for its sixth episode this weekend, Williams will return to play a character that continues the story from the fifth episode. The series has been known for showing two-part stories and this is one of them, according to the report. According to a report in Cultbox, in episode 5, the Doctor and Clara find themselves in a small Viking village, where the villagers are faced with protecting themselves against a group of savage space warriors called the Mire. In the thick of what is happening is a Viking girl named Ashildr, who apparently was the reason why the Mire were threatening the village in the first place. She declared war on them. The Doctor and Clara need to help the village folk defend themselves against the Mire. In the process, however, Ashildr loses her life in the fight when the Doctor makes use of her to lead the defense. The Doctor decides to bring her back to life using Mire technology, but in the end, he transforms her into an immortal, someone who is destined to live through the ages.
The next episode, aptly titled "The Woman Who Lived," brings the Doctor to England in 1651. He is in search of some alien artefact, as usual. This is also the time when a notorious highway robber or highwayman is victimizing travellers. Calling himself the "Nightmare," he is in cahoots with "a fire breathing accomplice," as reports would say. According to Cultbox, the Nightmare is no other than Ashildr, the girl whom the Doctor turned immortal. Williams plays the character but is very different from her character in the previous episode. The report noted that it will be interesting to see how the Doctor will face Ashildr and how he will handle what is a direct consequence of what he did in his time travels.
