'Doctor Who' Season 9 Spoilers, Plot News: Second Trailer Revealed; Maisie Williams Role A Mystery

Fans of the British science-fiction TV series "Doctor Who" have gotten another treat as a second trailer of its ninth installment has been released, allowing them to take a peek into what the Doctor has in store for them this year.

Although the new trailer is only a minute long, it showed enough material to keep fans speculating until its return to TV on Sept. 19, 2015. The trailer revealed few new hints as to the mysterious role Maisie Williams will be playing in her highly expected guest appearance. According to AV Club, showrunner Steven Moffat claims that Williams is a brand new character in the "Doctor Who" saga. The "Game of Thrones" actress is also seen standing next to the fire-breathing lion man, making her role even more enigmatic.

There are lots of other returning villains shown in the new trailer as well including the Daleks, the Zygons, and the Doctor's Time Lord nemesis Missy. While the first trailer showed Peter Capaldi's 12th rocking a guitar at a rock concert, the second one revealed him also riding horses, jumping out of window, and of course, running with his ever loyal comrade Clara.

And just by the looks of it, the second trailer really highlighted the enhancements made to the "Doctor Who" in terms of cinematics. Although a quick sneak peek of a tottery looking CGI dragon suggests that they're just not ultimately there yet.

Aside from Williams, other guest stars in the show include stars Reece Shearsmith, Rebecca Front, Rufus Hound, Paul Kaye, Elaine Tan, Neet Mohan, Bethany Black, Paul Courtenay Hyu, Joivan Wade and Sophie Stone. Michelle Gomez is back again as Missy in the season premiere along with regulars Capaldi and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald.

The season will kick off with a two-parter, "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar," written by lead writer and showrunner Steven Moffat and directed by Hettie Macdonald, reported Deadline Hollywood.
