'Don't Breathe': Official Summer-Ender Horror Movie to Rule Over 'Suicide Squad'

"Don't Breathe" is described as a well-written and ruthless terror machine online. It may overtake "Suicide Squad" when it comes to the box office earnings.

"Don't Breathe" is the official summer-ender movie offering from Sony's Screen Gems. This low-budget horror movie could rule over "Suicide Squad" when it comes to racking up the cash based on social media response.

According to reports, if "Don't Breathe" enters the box-office at first place this weekend, it could easily get $12 million in more than 3,000 movie theaters in the country.

"Suicide Squad", on the other hand, has gathered negative reviews online, but still attracted crowds. If the super villain movie holds strong, it could haul around $300 million in the US.

"Don't Breathe" plot and cast

The movie is all about a group of young people that breaks into the home of a blind old man to steal money. The group thinks that they are dealing with a sickly, helpless man, but they are wrong. They think that they can steal loads of cash from a weakling, but instead, they find themselves fighting for their lives.

Sony Pictures' Stage 6 Films produced the movie for less than $10 million. Right after the exclusive screening at the Comic-Con, the film received positive reviews and earned more favorable comments in social media.

The movie plot is simple, yet it becomes complicated when the group finds out that the blind man is keener that they were. In the movie, Alex (played by Dylan Minnette), is the mastermind of the break-ins. The burglaries are made possible through the use of his father's security company connections. Dylan plans the housebreaks and has rules about how much they can take every time. He is the so-called leader among his band of members composed of Money (played by Daniel Zovatto) and Rocky (portrayed by Jane Levy).

Their target is simply referred to as 'The Blind Man', played by Stephen Lang. He has a huge stash of cash from a legal settlement, which is simply kept in his dilapidated home in Detroit.

They think that 'The Blind Man' is an easy target. But once they are inside, they are unable to get out because of terrible circumstances. 'The Blind Man' stalks them from room to room armed with a gun. Although they can perfectly see everything, 'The Blind Man' is able to find them easier because they are in his world. This makes it even harder for them to escape.

Premiere date

'Don't Breathe' will premiere on August 25. The film is directed by Fede Alvarez. Reports say that it is a well-written horror flick that will deeply scare audiences. It is from the same creators of "Evil Dead" in 2013.
