'Doom' News: New Trailer Revealed, Big Reveal During E3 2015

The first-person shooter video game that helped increase the popularity of PC-based shooter games, "Doom" is making a comeback. After seven years in development, the game's developer Id Software and publisher Bethesda recently revealed that a reboot of the game is coming soon.

Through a 10-second teaser trailer, two important features of the upcoming game were revealed. According to a report in Tech Times, the first one that was revealed was the return of the Super Shotgun, a prominent weapon in the game series, which is described as a "classic double-barreled beauty, and everything fans could have possibly hoped for." The second thing that was revealed in the trailer is the return of "Doom" classic demonic villain called the Revenants. These are gory-looking, bloody, skinless walking corpses who are armed with two rocket-launchers on their shoulders.

The game's return has long been awaited by the game's fans. The last game in the series was released way back in 2004, called "Doom 3." The new game was announced by id Software in 2008, and since then has been "made, scrapped, switched to a different publisher and re-made in perpetuity." This recent announcement at least indicates that it has left development hell, 2,567 days after it was announced, according to another report in Tech Crunch.

At the end of the trailer, Bethesda promised a bigger reveal and more gameplay details will be given during the upcoming E3 2015 conference. The publisher has a scheduled event on June 14.

Another report in Cinema Blend said that Bethesda and id Software earlier showed 10 minutes of gameplay video last summer behind closed doors. The report mentioned that that footage showed that the game will be a "reboot of the series." The game's main character is said to be more agile, and can perform double jumps and can vault over obstacles. Gameplay was also described as "modernized" in this new game.
