Dragon Age: Inquisition Release Date Delayed to November 2014, BioWare Hands Out 'Romance Guide' and Other Updates
Dragon Age: Inquisition, the third of the Dragon Ag' game franchise, will debut in the fall of 2014, according to reports. BioWare reportedly pushed the release back to add more to the game.
Gameplay trailers initially pointed to an Oct. 7 launch date but after E3 2014, Bioware officially announced that they will push pack Dragon Age: Inquisition's unveiling to Nov. 18, 2014. Creative director Mike Laidlaw confirmed that the story will be much more open-ended in contrast to the previous titles where storylines were much more linear.
Further official statements from series writer David Gaider said that the forthcoming game installment will showcase a new protagonist, that followers will keep their "unique" armor designs, and that combats will focus more on "preparation, teamwork, and positioning."
In late August, BioWare also took to their community page to confirm a four-player co-op mode aside from the single-player feature.
Dragon Age fans were also given a "handy romance guide" that basically tackles who the in-game character can get along with and "what it will take to make the magic happen."
"You could play the game for a significant length of time before discovering that a follower isn't interested," Laidlaw explained to PC Gamer.
The lead designer further said that regardless of the race or type of character the player chooses, there will be multiple romantic options available for them. Just because NPCs can be won over doesn't mean they definitely will be won over, though.
"These characters have their own agendas and opinions, and the choices a player makes during the game have a definite impact on their affections," the creative director wrote. "That's intentional."
