Duchess of Cambridge Celebrates 30th Birthday At Home

Monday marks the Duchess of Cambridge's birthday which she will celebrate during a "low-key" party, palace officials have said.

Just one day after attending the premiere of the film "War House," the Duchess turned 30-years-old. Her milestone birthday arrives in the same year the Duchess has attracted intense media coverage. The past year has seen Middleton take on a royal engagement followed by a marriage ceremony viewed by millions of people around the world.

The Duchess has been closely watched by the media since her wedding to Prince William on April 29, 2011. As a result, the royal couple will likely avoid additional attention and stay out of the limelight on her 30th birthday.

A St. James's Palace spokesperson said that the Duke and Duchess would have a "private and low-key" celebration Monday, according to CNN.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended Sunday's premiere of Steven Spielberg's new film in London's West Wing. The event benefited the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Duchess furthered her status as a fashion icon wearing a floor-length lace evening gown by Alice Temperley at the premiere.

Ahead of their arrival, Spielberg shared his enthusiasm for the royal couple.

"I'm excited to see them again," said the famed director of "War Horse" during the event.

Spielberg continued, "I haven't ever met Kate, and I met William when he was very, very young so I'm looking forward to seeing him again."

Known officially as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate has been praised for her elegance and ability to connect with people since her entrance into the royal family.

Although she has not yet spoken to the British public directly, the Duchess will be assisting with Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee this year, as well as 2012's London Olympic Games.
