A campaign against the Kellogg's Company has received over 408,000 signatures as of Friday morning, and has been joined by the conservative Family Research Council, after the cereal maker blacklisted the Breitbart news site.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said in his Washington Update this week that Kellogg's deciding to drop its ads from Breitbart for "not aligning" with its values is symptomatic of a "liberal activism" movement against conservative websites and organizations.

"Now that the Left has lost control of the government, which it used to punish dissenting thought, it's moved on to consolidate the support it has in corporate America," Perkins argued.

Kellogg's did not provide specific details about its decision to cut ties with Breitbart, but Kris Charles, a spokeswoman for the cereal company, told Bloomberg at the end of November that "We regularly work with our media-buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren't aligned with our values as a company,"

"We recently reviewed the list of sites where our ads can be placed and decided to discontinue advertising on Breitbart.com. We are working to remove our ads from that site," Charles added.

Digiday reports that a number of other companies have also pulled their online advertising from the news site, including Allstate, Nest, EarthLink, Warby Parker and SoFi.

In response, Breitbart, which backed President-elect Donald Trump during his campaign, launched the #DumpKellogs website, urging its supporters to stand up against "bigotry," with a petition, which has received over 408,000 signatures to date.

"For Kellogg's, an iconic American brand, to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice. They insult our incredibly diverse staff and spit in the face of our 45,000,000 highly engaged, highly perceptive, highly loyal readers, many of whom are Kellogg's customers," the petition reads.

"Boycotting mainstream American ideas is an act of discrimination and intense prejudice. If you serve Kellogg's products to your family, you are serving up bigotry at your breakfast table," it adds.

Breitbart CEO Larry Solov told Perkins on the FRC's "Washington Watch" program that Kellogg's decision is part of an effort to "denigrate mainstream American values," and said that the cereal company should stay out of politics.

"I don't know what values a cereal company should have other than producing a great product and keeping shareholders happy," Solov added.
