Rumors swirling around a Dwight Howard report have the Los Angeles Lakers big man interested in the Houston Rockets and possibly the Dallas Mavericks as his new team destination.

NBC Sports reported on May 19 that L.A. is no longer an intriguing place for Howard, although Lakers guards Nash and Bryant would like him to stay.

The 27-year-old will be a free agent in six weeks, and according to reports, he is in no hurry to make his decision on what team he wants to play for even at the insistence of the waiting Lakers.

"Though Howard is adamant his free agency not be marred by the circus-like environment that surrounded his departure from Orlando last summer, word already has spread to multiple levels of his support staff that Howard re-signing with the Lakers is far from a done deal," according to CBSSports.com.

The prospect of Howard teaming up with budding superstars James Harden and Jeremy Lin on the Rockets may prove to be a better option for the big man than staying with aging superstar teammates in L.A.

"The Rockets have a young star, James Harden, who has proved himself worthy of playing the leading role for the franchise; a budding 3-point shooting threat in Chandler Parsons; a defensive-minded coach in Kevin McHale; and Omer Asik, the kind of 7-footer Howard is believed to want next to him in the frontcourt," CBSSports.com's Ken Berger said.

The Mavericks showing interest in Howard comes from SlamMagazine's story about Dirk Nowitski saying he would take a pay cut to bring the center over to the franchise.

Currently Howard has a $30 million deal on the table if he resigns with the Lakers for one more year.
