EcoATM Pays Cash In Return for Your Old Phone

Someone has finally invented a machine that do away with your old phone in a pleasant way.

Introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which ended on Friday, the EcoATM will pay you money for what it thinks your old mobile is worth.

The EcoATM compares to the size of actual banking ATMs and will figure out the value of your handheld via pictures it takes, and cables one must connect to the phone so that the machine may verify the connectivity of the internal circuit.

After analyzing the data, the machine renders a quote that displays what hundreds of recycling companies would pay for it.

According to USAToday, the machine may give you a dollar for an old phone one is cashing in, but for a Verizon iPhone 4, Bill Bowles, EcoATM founder, demonstrated that it would pay $221, which is ok if you need the fast cash.

Although the machine gives people an environmentally friendly way to dispense electronics (attractive for sure) and even pays you for it, the security measures that are applied throughout the cashing-in process may be somewhat of a hassle.

Not only must the user display his government related ID, but he must also undergo a thumbprint scan in addition to being photographed by the machine during the entire process, according to DigitalTrends.

There are currently 50 machines available, most of which are found in Southern California. The company, however, is planning to expand eastbound and reach 500 machines by the end of 2012.
