'Elder Scrolls 6' delay as developer hints that 'Fallout 4' will be better than Skyrim.

Earlier, there had been reports that "Elder Scrolls 6" was delayed due to game developer Bethesda's total focus on "Fallout 4". Well, Bethesda is doing so as it thinks sales of "Fallout 4" might be better than "Elder Scrolls: Skyrim"

According to Gamezone, when Skyrim was released in 2011, 3.4 million physical copies of the game were out of the shelves in just two days. By June 2013, Skyrim had sold 20 million copies of the game. To beat Skyrim, "Fallout 4" would have to sell more than 20 million copies in two years. That was the test, according to the site.

With "Elder Scrolls: Skyrim", Bethesda had created an iconic game, a cult game that made the RPG platform popular. To go beyond Skyrim and to create something better than Skyrim is a very ambitious mission. But Bethesda has done just that.

Bethesda has always credited Skyrim for being the foundation to "Fallout 4". Creative Director Todd Howard and Vice President of PR and Marketing Pete Hines have admitted that "Fallout 4" is being built on the knowledge gained from previous games, especially the super successful "Elder Scrolls: Skyrim".

Pete Hines told MCV, "I think "Fallout 4" can top Skyrim. It could be our biggest release ever. But we will see. It is part of my job to build the megaphone that we hold up to the game, and the game decides how loud it goes. Just how big it is going to be is hard to say. Skyrim was a massively big deal."

The last "Elder Scrolls" release in any form was in 2011. After that, the Elder Scrolls Online launch on PC in 2014 was not that successful. Bethesda then relaunched it on gaming consoles in May and the results have been satisfying. This keeps the "Elder Scrolls" in public memory.

About this, Pete Hines said, "The PC launch was bumpy. But we stuck with it, we didn't just throw our hands in the air and go: 'Oh, that didn't go as well as we wanted so f- it'. The team focused on the stuff that they felt should be better."

Bethesda has not released any details about "The Elder Scrolls 6" release date. Considering it takes at least 18 months to develop games like Skyrim, it might be 2018 when we get to play the next Skyrim game.
