'Elementary' Season 4 News, Spoilers: Sherlock to Seek Out Greener Pastures?

Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) may lose their consultant status with the New York Police Department in the coming episodes of the fourth season of CBS' hit TV series "Elementary."

As previously reported, Sherlock's violent outburst ended up with Oscar (Michael Weston) getting beat up during the Season 3 finale and his actions caused not only his position but also of Watson's in NYPD.

Citing Entertainment Weekly, a report from Design & Trend quoted what executive producer Rob Doherty said that the sleuth may already know all too well about his fate in the department.

The series creator revealed that as Season 4 opens, fans may find Sherlock already anticipating the charges that the district attorney is going to bring against him after the Oscar issue.

"They're both on pins and needles in that they don't have a strong sense of what the district attorney is going to do," Doherty teased (via EW).

Although viewers may sympathize for Sherlock in his situation, the EP however noted that realistically, "you just can't lose your cool like that and work for the New York Police Department."

More than certain with the outcome, Doherty said that the first episode will see Sherlock "exploring other options" should the department decide to ditch his services.

"He'll be looking for other agencies that might be willing to collaborate with him and Joan," the showrunner added.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with TVGuide (via D&T), the series creator said that the first case in the new season will be loosely inspired by the Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of Wysteria Lodge."

Slated to appear in this segment is the returning guest star, Patrick Page, who had earlier joined the show as Jonathan Bloom. The latter was described as a man "with an unsavory history of preying on desperate women who then disappear."

Bloom, according the publication, will enlist Sherlock to help him prove his innocence for the disappearance of a least one of the women.

"Elementary" Season 4 premieres Nov. 5 on CBS.
