Elin Nordegren Miami Outing Creates Controversy

Elin Nordegren, the ex-wife of golf superstar Tiger Woods, has established a quiet new life as a single mom in Florida following her divorce. Her life as a divorcée is so quiet, in fact, that Nordegren has become unrecognizable in public, according to reports.

The Swedish model spent the weekend in Miami with two siblings and Swedish hockey player Douglas Murray. The group dined at the upscale Mr. Chow and later tried to get into the exclusive nightclub, but they were turned down, reported ANI.

While Nordegren reportedly did not get into the nightclub, the former model only gained access to the restaurant by using her celebrity, according to the New York Daily News.

"Someone in the entourage said, 'This is Elin, Tiger Woods' wife,' so only after they dropped the name, they let her in, " an onlooker said.

"Nobody recognized her- she was only a celebrity because she married Tiger Woods," the source added.

After six years of marriage, Nordegren divorced Woods in 2010 after numerous extramarital affairs became public. While the golf pro's ex-wife is well known, Woods is world-famous as an icon in the sports world.

Ahead of his divorce, Woods apologized for his "irresponsible, selfish behavior" during a press conference in 2010, according to People magazine.

"Elin and I have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior," said the golf pro. They couple's divorce was finalized less than a year later on Aug. 23, 2010.

Nordegren reportedly received a whopping $100 million after her divorce from Woods and is using the money toward building a dream home.

The former model is building a sprawling mansion in North Palm Beach, Florida, complete with a pool, spa, and Koi pond, reported TMZ. The home also showcases Nordegren's heritage as a Swedish flag flies proudly from one of the home's chimneys.

The property cost $12 million and originally came with a home built in the 1920s. Nordegren's architect suggested that it would make more sense to demolish the entire structure and start afresh rather than bring the home up to current hurricane safety codes.

Nordergren and Woods share one daughter, Sam Alexis, 5, and a son, Charlie Axel, 3.

Woods lives in nearby Jupiter, Fla., which is 30 miles from Nordegren's compound.
