Eminem Confirms New Solo Album in the Works

August 2, 2012|10:18 am

Rapper and producer Eminem recently phoned in to the Channel 955 radio station in Detroit and confirmed that he was working on a new solo album.

"I actually started my album," said Eminem to the station. "But I haven't fully went in yet because I've been finishing up this Slaughterhouse record. I've kind of been really hands-on with this album for the past year."

Slaughterhouse is a hip-hop group that signed to Eminem's Shady imprint in 2010. Since that time, Eminem has been working closely with them perfecting their music and readying the launch of their debut on his label.

"This is kind of a pet project for me," he continued. "I've kind of been executive producing, producing, co-producing, mixing- very hands-on with it and just really involved. We're actually finishing up today. We're handing in the album today."

Eminem did not confirm a release date for his next LP. He also updated the station on his relationship with rapper 50 Cent who also will drop a new album in the fall of this year titled Street King Immortal.

"Ever since [Shady/Aftermath Records] started making music with [50 Cent], it was always like a mutual respect thing and we became friends outside of music," said Eminem. "50 is very big on the business aspects of his career. I would consider him a smart business man. Not saying that I'm not, but I don't get into as much of the technical aspect in the business sense."

In typical Eminem fashion, he proceeded to follow that with a joke.

"I have no idea what's going on- ever. I don't even know where I'm at right now," he added.

Eminem's last solo album Recovery was released in 2010 and has sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. alone.
