Eminem to Perform Secret Concert in NYC Tonight?

August 9, 2012|2:33 pm

Rap star and producer Eminem could be performing a secret concert in New York City tonight.

Allhiphop.com is reporting that the Shady Records boss will make an appearance at the G-Shock 30th Anniversary party at a secret location in NYC, and will be accompanied by his label mates Slaughterhouse.

The event will be hosted by DJ Drama who will also serve as the official DJ of this mini-concert.

If Eminem does end up performing, there is a possibility that he could debut some of his new music from his next album, but judging from his past, that seems unlikely.

He recently confirmed to Detroit radio station Channel 955 that he was working on a new solo project.

"I actually started my album," said Eminem to the station. "But I haven't fully went in yet because I've been finishing up this Slaughterhouse record. I've kind of been hands-on with this album for the past year."

The hip-hop super group that features rappers Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9", Joell Ortiz, and Joe Budden will release their Shady Records debut Welcome to Our House on Aug. 28.

The Interscope Records subsidiary signed the rap quartet in 2010 shortly after Eminem released his last solo album Recovery.

Since that time, Eminem has worked closely with the group in crafting an album that will please fans and critics.

"This is kind of a pet project for me," he continued. "I've kind of been executive producing, producing, co-producing, mixing- very hands-on with it and just really involved. We're actually finishing up today. We're handing in the album today."

50 Cent, another artist signed to Shady Records, will drop his next album Street King Immortal this November, giving the label two major releases in 2012.
