'Empire' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Producers Looking for Actor to Play 'Moody, Outspoken' Teenage Rapper

The second season of Fox's hit TV drama series "Empire" is now eyeing to grow its talented characters list with this new "teenage rapper."

A report from TV Line indicated that the producers of the scripted program are currently on the lookout for a "baby-faced actress" to play the recurring role of the "potentially breakout" Betty Barz. The character in question is said to be "moody, outspoken" kind of teenager with a penchant for spitting rhymes.

Betty (who is often known as "Betty Gathers" and "The Queen O'16S") is an African-American who is "unapologetically butch." She's often referred to as a hero in her "Brownsville-Never-Ran-Never-Will, Brooklyn" neighborhood.

She possesses an "undeniable talent" that enables her to win "more rhyme battles and girl's hearts than the best male vets on her block." She's also said to be the daughter of "an incarcerated drug kingpin" named "Pops."

The publication speculating about the character's sexual orientation citing the "winning girl's hearts" phrase, which means Betty could be a lesbian.

The character is set to be introduced in the season opener of the show titled "The Devils Are Here" and despite the fact that she's "charismatic and witty with a street lean," the artist's road to fame with the titular entertainment company won't be an easy one.

"In fact, her 'deep fears push her toward self-sabotage' — and prevent her from fully turning her back on the streets," the site said.

"Empire" Season 2 is slated to premiere on September 23 9/8c on Fox. Stay tuned for more updates.
