A former Secret Service agent claimed in a new book that presumptive Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton displayed "unhinged rage" and once threw a Bible at the back of another agent's head in the 1990s, when she was First Lady with former President Bill Clinton.

"The First Lady had a different sort of liveliness. She once threw a Bible at an agent on her detail, hitting him in the back of the head. He bluntly let her know it wasn't acceptable. He told me that story himself," Gary Byrne writes in his upcoming book, Crisis of Character, according to Breitbart News.

The book, set to be released on June 28, promises to reveal inside information into Clinton's character, and how the former First Family operated at the White House.

Byrne alleges in the book that Clinton's "pattern of rage" was displayed on a regular basis, and the former First Lady "vented on everyone" and "it got worse" as time went on.

"Most of us knew to brace for her inevitable eruptions," the former secret service agent wrote. "They didn't happen every day, but behind closed doors we learned about them fast. In public, she was everyone's best friend. Privately, she was her normal self."

Clinton is also being accused of regularly cursing at agents, and argued that being assigned to her was a form of punishment from supervisors. Byrne alleges that she treated agents "like furniture," noting that she would "explode in my face without reservation or decorum …"

The Breitbart report reveals further inside details from the book, and argued that it will be hard for the Clinton campaign to discredit them, given how much praise Byrne has received throughout his illustrious military and law enforcement career.

Clinton, who is also the former secretary of State, has in public talked about the importance of her Christian faith, and back in June 2014 said that the Bible is a huge influence on her thinking.

"At the risk of appearing predictable, the Bible was and remains the biggest influence on my thinking. I was raised reading it, memorizing passages from it and being guided by it. I still find it a source of wisdom, comfort and encouragement," the Democratic candidate said at the time.

She also praised her Methodist upbringing, arguing that it gave her the "great gift of personal salvation but also the great obligation of social gospel."

"And I took that very seriously and have tried, tried to be guided in my own life ever since as an advocate for children and families, for women and men around the world who are oppressed and persecuted, denied their human rights and human dignity," she added about the influence faith has had on her.
