Alternately, Ross tweeted, "The love of my life said YES!!!!!!"

It comes as no surprise that the pair are engaged since Ross gushed about his lady love in a recent interview.

"It's amazing," he said, according to omg! Insider. "I'm so in love and we've got amazing things going on. And we inspire each other. So it's cool."

Simpson and Ross, the son of Diana Ross, began dating last year. According to a source close to the pair, their romance began in the "club scene" through mutual friends.

"Evan and Ashlee have been friends for a really long time, probably 10 years," the insider said, according to Us Weekly. "They knew each other from the club scene and have tons of mutual friends."

It will be Simpson's second marriage. The younger sister of Jessica Simpson was married to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz from 2008 to 2011. They share a five-year-old son, Bronx.

When it comes to Ross' famous mother, the Supremes singer reportedly approves of Simpson.

"She loves her," Ross said back in October when asked how his 69-year-old mother felt about his girlfriend at the time.

Meanwhile, with news of Simpson's engagement, fans are wondering who will marry first- Ashlee or her famous sister Jessica, who is four years her senior and engaged to NFL star Eric Johnson.

According to reports, Simpson and Johnson are planning to marry sometime this year in Italy. The couple share two children together, daughter Maxwell and son Ace.
