Evelyn Lozada First Photos Since Chad Johnson Headbutt Assault

Evelyn Lozada was photographed for the first time since being assaulted by her estranged husband Chad Johnson, and new photos suggest that her head injury may be more severe than initially reported.

The "Basketball Wives" star appears glum in new photos posted on TMZ.com, and she can be seen strolling on a beach while chatting on her cell phone. Her forehead is covered with a cap, which has led to questions about the extent of her injuries. Johnson is accused of headbutting Lozada on Aug. 11 during a dispute over a receipt for condoms.

"It gets pretty heated," Davie Police Department Capt. Dale Engle told The Sun Sentinel. "By the time they get home here in Davie it's pretty heated. She alleges he leaned over and head butted her. He says she leaned towards him and that they butted heads. Needless to say, she has a good laceration on her forehead."

Police reports state that Lozada, 37, had a 3-inch laceration across her forehead, although it remains unclear whether she suffered any internal injuries. Her emotional wounds prompted her to team up with self-help guru Iyanla Vanzant in recent weeks, who will help Lozada heal and get her life back on track on an upcoming reality TV show to be aired on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network.

"Hey Everyone! I'm with Iyanla and can't wait for you guys to see me on her show 'Iyanla Fix My Life' on OWN – Oprah Winfrey Network in September. I will keep you guys informed of the actual air date. Right now, I'm in my ZEN moment with Iyanla. Check out the pics below," Lozada recently posted on her personal website.

Lozada filed for divorce from Johnson, 34, an NFL player, after just 40 days of marriage following the domestic assault. As she was treated on the scene, Johnson was arrested and spent the night at Broward County jail before posting the $2,500 bail the following day.

Following the incident, Johnson lost his lucrative position with the Miami Dolphins and is reportedly now facing foreclosure on his Miami, Fla. home because he allegedly owes at least $28,000 in back payments.

"I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life," Johnson posted on his blog.
