At the moment, Everton hold fifth in the table with 12 points after seven matches and only one point behind them are Liverpool who are currently ninth.

In the tight English Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Leicester City are in between the neighbors and are all with 12 points so far.

Things have been very tumultuous for Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the Reds as they are going through an underwhelming start.

In the beginning of the season, many predicted that they would be battling for the top four spots in the league but so far, they have not looked like the elite team that their history suggests they are.

They have only won once in their last five league games and have defeats against West Ham United and Manchester United.

Their last outing was a 3-2 win against Aston Villa in a match that saw Daniel Sturridge score twice while James Milner also added his name to the scoring column for the first time in the season.

The tension is building for Rodgers to produce wins as they have also been below par in the UEFA Europa League as they have only two points from two draws in the competition.

On the other hand, Everton have not lost in the league in the last four matches – trading draws and wins that saw them draw against Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City while beating defending champions Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion.

The Toffees have a tough match-up ahead as after the Reds, they have Manchester United and Arsenal to face in the league so getting a win against their local rivals should give them the boost they need.

Five of their last six meetings ended in draws to show just how close these two teams match up.
