'Ex Machina' Actress Alicia Vikander in Talks for 'Bourne 5' Lead Role?

"Ex Machina" lead Alicia Vikander is said to be in negotiations to play a lead role in the planned "Bourne 5" film.

News has emerged the 26-year-old Swedish actress, who counts "A Royal Affair" and "The Fifth Estate" to her list of credits may be joining the cast of "Bourne 5," which will reportedly see the return of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, and Paul Greengrass back as director.

No details as to the plotline and the rest of the cast have yet been released, however, it's been said both Damon and Greengrass, who are co-writing the movie's script, have prepared meaty material for her role.

If its proven true, Vikander will star alongside Damon in a fifth Bourne installment, the film may take her away from another project to which she's recently become attached. According to Cannes Film Market, the "Seventh Son" actress had earlier signed on to star in tech thriller, "The Circle" together with Tom Hanks.

Vikander has been steadily rising in Hollywood, with a supporting role in "Anna Karenina" and as lead in "Testament of Youth," the latter earning best actress nominations for BIFA and the National Film Award. She has also received a best actress Empire Award nomination for "Ex Machina."

The actress is set to appear as female lead in Guy Ritchie's spy-fi action comedy reboot of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." this summer, and will be co-starring with Bradley Cooper in "Adam Jones," a John Wells chef comedy in October.

According to Screenrant, Vikander is also in talks for a role in the movie adaptation of Ubisoft's video game, "Assassin's Creed."

The tentatively titled "Bourne 5" is set to hit theaters in 2016.
