A brand new trailer for the follow-up to the popular drama "What Would Jesus Do" is set to capture audiences again with "The Journey Continues," set for release on March 31.

Based on Charles Sheldon's best-selling book In His Steps: What Would Jesus Do, the sequel film stars John Schneider who reprises his role as the Drifter. Additionally, Lorenzo Lamas of "Grease" stars opposite of Schneider and Joseph Nasser, who also wrote and executive produced the film.

"The stories in the film are compelling, thought-provoking and challenge people to seriously think about what Jesus would do in any situation that the average person finds themselves in," Nasser told The Christian Post in an emailed response. "Characters will think about issues like the afterlife, death, suicide, stealing, but most importantly, many will give their lives to Christ."

The first "What Would Jesus Do" film was released in 2010 starring Schneider, Maxine Bahns and Adam Gregory. Today, "The Journey Continues" follows Drifter who arrives once again in a new town where he inspires people to live as Jesus would. Chance encounters occur between Drifter and a troubled teen heading down the wrong path, a woman struggling with love, a family estranged from their father, and a pastor who has lost his faith. Fortunately, the Drifter provides valuable insight, leading the community back to faith and redemption.

Meanwhile, Sheldon's book was first published in 1896 and currently sells an average of 100,000 copies per year. Furthermore, What Would Jesus Do has been printed in 26 languages around the world and has never gone out of print since its first release. Nasser was among the millions affected by Sheldon's writing in such a way that it propelled him to adapt the book onto film through Nasser Productions.

"When I was fighting cancer, the Bible and Sheldon's book brought me comfort," the producer revealed. "As a result, I promised God that if He thought He should heal me, I would spread WWJD to as many people as possible. God healed me, so I'm trying to make good on my promise."

"What Would Jesus Do: The Journey Continues" will be available on DVD on March 31 for $14.93 where Christian and faith-friendly films are sold. Watch the trailer exclusively at CP here.
