The Family Dollar murders suspect, Lavere Bryant, was allegedly fired from the company last spring, after reportedly being overlooked for a promotion, according to new reports.
Bryant is accused of killing two other employees in the Family Dollar murders last week. According to WebProNews, Bryant was fired while he was an assistant manager for allegedly harassing other employees.
The suspect was arraigned this week following the killings of two 20 year old Family Dollar employees, Joseph Orlando and Brenna Machus.
Authorities have claimed that a man seen in surveillance video footage entering the store on the night of the murders is Bryant. However, the suspect has maintained that he is innocent and that police have made a mistake in identifying him.
Bryant has declared, "I did not murder anybody."
As well as the surveillance footage, police have also said that have been contacted by a number of people regarding the case, who also led them to Bryant and further gave them evidence to arrest him for the murders.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said, "We got a slew of good tips that led to this arrest."
Bryant has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder, unlawful imprisonment, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm charges, and armed robbery.
The arrest comes after Machus was found dead in a wooded area near the Rouge River with a gunshot wound to the head.
Orlando was found dead in the Family Dollar store in Dearborn, MI, and also had a gunshot wound to the head.
Bryn Winburn, spokesperson for Family Dollar, has issued a statement regarding the tragic killings, "We are saddened by the loss of Joseph and Brenna and our hearts go out to their families and friends. We have a strong, tight-knit team in Detroit, and our focus is on taking care of them right now as we all work to understand what happened."
