"We're trying to do what we always do, which is try to come at it from a character point of view and figure out where the characters would go from here. I think the thing that's made The Fast and the Furious special is obviously we have incredible action and so on. But the thing that people really relate to the most is the characters. We're lucky that we have a lot of great characters," Moritz told Entertainment Weekly.

"Unfortunately, we don't have Paul anymore. His character … has moved on. But we feel like there's a lot still to be mined. That's where we're starting. We're really talking about the characters, where they all sit right now. It's a huge challenge," he added.

Digital Spy shared a round-up of rumors about "Furious 8." For one, there are some talks that Eva Mendes' Agent Monica Fuentes could make a comeback in the forthcoming title. Also, following the sad passing of Walker, it's also been speculated that his brother Cody could "debut as Brian's younger brother."

Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw and Dwayne Johnson's Agent Hobbs are slated to go toe-to-toe once again.

Other than the cast, it has also been said that longtime director Justin Lin, who passed down the torch to James Wan in 7, will reprise his role behind the camera.

"I think it's a great idea for Justin [Lin] to come back," Wan said. "Justin had such a big part to do with where this series has gone. It would be amazing if he closed it out."

"Furious 8" is slated to premiere April 2017.
