'Fast & Furious 8' News: Vin Diesel Wants Helen Mirren to Join Cast; More Spin-offs Revealed

Fans have been waiting for the next "Fast & Furious" film since the last movie premiered earlier this year, and Vin Diesel dropped a few hints about what to expect next in the hit movie franchise. The actor jokingly said he wanted "everyone" to do the franchise, but later said that he ultimately wants his "The Last Witch Hunter" co-star, Helen Mirren, to join him in "Fast & Furious 8."

In his interview with MTV last month, the actor said that everyone who wanted to join the cast of "Fast & Furious" films should fall in line after Mirren. "She is on the list. Be careful what you wish for, Helen," he said. The actor was previously asked on what he knows about the last three movies of the film, but playfully diverted the topic to the casting, hence, dropping Mirren's name.

Meanwhile, according to Yibada, the actor/producer also revealed that the talks of producing several spin-offs and prequels to the "Fast & Furious" series is now in the "preliminary stages." The website said that the stories will be based on different characters, and Diesel said that they have been toying with the idea for a long time now.

The actor did not name the characters where the spin-offs will be based from, but the website named a few notable "Fast & Furious" characters. Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw, and Luke Evan's Owen Shaw are among the ones that are most likely to get their story told, according to the report.

The team will be back in New York, and fans are excited to see the group going back to their roots. "Fast & Furious 8" was written by Gary Scott Thompson and directed by F. Gary Gray. The movie is expected to be released worldwide on April 14, 2017.
