FBI Calls U.S. Muslims Terrorist Sympathizers, Muhammad a 'Cult Leader'

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is teaching its agents that American Muslims are terrorist sympathizers and their prophet, Muhammad, was a “cult leader,” according explosive new allegations made Wednesday by Wired magazine.

Recruits are being taught that the more devout a Muslim is, the more likely he is to be violent, according to Wired’s Spencer Ackerman, who broke the news after getting a hold of the recent FBI training materials.

“In them [materials], the Constitutionally-protected religious faith of millions of Americans is portrayed as an indicator of terrorist activity,” Ackerman wrote.

Instructors at FBI's training academy are accused of telling recruits that mainstream American Muslims should be considered likely terrorist sympathizers and that Islamic charities are a “funding mechanism for combat.”

The FBI tried to brush off the accusations.

“A disclaimer accompanied the presentation stating that the views expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. government,” FBI spokesman Christopher Allen told Wired.

Ackerman explained in his column that, in the years following the 9/11 attacks, the FBI's presence in Islamic communities has grown considerably. In his opinion, he said, focusing on the religious behavior of American Muslims, rather than looking at criminal records or questionable financial transactions, is a road to nowhere.

“And depicting Islam as inseparable from political violence is exactly the narrative al-Qaida spins,” he added, “As is the related idea that America and Islam are necessarily in conflict.”

The Onion, a satirical newspaper that reports fake news, mocked the agency with the headline: FBI: Muslim Groups In U.S. May Be Developing Nuclear Families.

“Census Bureau statistics show that the Muslim population of the U.S. has increased dramatically in recent years. Mueller attributed much of this growth to the proliferation of nuclear families,” the newspaper said in its mock report.
