'Fear the Walking Dead' News, Update: AMC Announces Start of Production for Spinoff
Earlier this week, AMC announced that the production for its highly anticipated spinoff series "Fear the Walking Dead" has already started in Vancouver.
The press release further indicated that additional filming will also take place in Los Angeles "at a later date."
The show, which is considered to be a companion series to the network's more popular post-apocalyptic TV drama series "The Walking Dead," is slated to show the audiences the insane events which took place while Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is deep in slumber.
"'Fear the Walking Dead' takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of 'The Walking Dead,'" said series creator Robert Kirkman. "A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We're going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up."
Executive producer David Erickson meanwhile shared his enthusiasm for the series in an exclusive behind-the-scene promo shared by AMC.
"I could not be more thrilled to be continuing on this apocalyptic journey, dramatizing the horrific disintegration of society through the lens of a dysfunctional family. We've assembled a stellar cast and crew to tell our story — it's going to be a great ride," the showrunner told Collider.
As already reported, the show will feature Cliff Curtis as Travis, Kim Dickens as Madison, Frank Dillane as Nick, as well as the "Orange is the New Black" star Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza.
"Fear the Walking Dead" is expected to debut on the network "later this summer."
