"It is incredible to see how fans get behind their favorite player – Marco plays for a great club, is really fun to watch, and he is very popular in FIFA Ultimate Team, so it makes a lot of sense that the fans picked him," said Nick Channon, senior producer for EA Sports FIFA.

According to the EA Sports website, Reus is the definition of a technically proficient footballer. The 27-year-old new captain of Borussia Dortmund appeared in 29 games of German National Team and was awarded Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2012.

Reus, who has been actively campaigning in the past days, thanked his fans for the overwhelming support and promised to make them proud of his future performances. In a statement to ESPN FC, he said that he felt honored to join the distinguished group of professional footballers who were featured on the cover of FIFA.
